Lan Tan is a professional instructor with over 30 years’ experience in the field. She has taught Chinese cooking in New York, Pace University, and on local cable television. Since 1987 she has led classes at her namesake cooking school that make it simple to re-create authentic dishes at home without the MSG or high sugar and sodium levels found in Chinese restaurants.

Lan also offers classes for special-needs diets (low fat, low sodium, low carb). She has worked in conjunction with Duke Fitness Center, the Duke Center for Living, and Structure House to help students lose weight without compromising on flavor.

Lan’s Cooking School closed its Durham location in December 2010, but Lan is still taking reservations for cooking classes as she looks for another venue. She also offers in-home classes for parties (kids and adults).
